October 2020 update

Hello 4-H Community,

The impact of Covid-19 continues to create uncertainty and concern.

Washington State University is still adhering to a no in person 4-H model.  WSU and Kitsap County 4-H are determining the next steps for 4-H clubs for the 2020/2021 year.  As soon as Bainbridge Island 4-H learns more, we'll keep you                                       posted.

In regards to Fall 2020...

Hello to our current (and interested) Bainbridge Island 4-H families,

Whether you are sewing masks, cooking in the kitchen, working in your garden and feeding chickens, taking your dog on walks or photographing your surroundings, we hope you're practicing the four H's and engaging your head, your heart, your hands, and your health this summer.

Washington State 4-H Youth Development stopped all activities in March and our club has not held project meetings since then.  Both the Kitsap County Fair and Washington State Fair were cancelled for the summer.  As stated by Washington State 4-H, "Washington 4-H Youth Development Program is not meeting face-to-face until your county reaches Phase 4.  When we are in Phase 4, some social distancing and other requirements will need to be followed for in-person activities."

Bainbridge Island 4-H has no meetings scheduled at this time.  We will keep members apprised as we receive updates from Kitsap County 4-H and Washington State 4-H.  If you are interested in joining Bainbridge Island 4-H in the future, please email your contact information and we will keep you informed of a meeting.

Thank you,

Bainbridge Island 4-H

4-H Community Service

While exercising social distancing, our members helped to reduce pollution on the Island.  Although our community service event was cancelled, you can see below how members picked up trash from neighborhoods, the Grand Forest, Country Club Road and a few beaches.  Cate even had a supervisor from high above!

WSU 4-H recommends all meetings be postponed due to Corona Virus

At the recommendation of WSU Extension, we are going to pause our Bainbridge Island 4-H projects until further notice.

We will not hold the beach clean up on March 21st and we will keep you posted as we learn additional information.

Below is a portion of the notice from Kitsap County's 4-H office:

Dear 4-H Community,

WSU Extension is committed to continuing its Land Grant mission and services, while mitigating risk to WSU personnel, program participants, and the public.
Due to the quickly changing status of COVID-19, and in an effort to slow the spread and reduce the number of individuals infected, we are recommending that all 4-H events be postponed at this time.  This is a fluid situation and we will continue to monitor and follow the health departments recommendations.

March General Meeting

Update as of Monday, March 9th:

Please note that at the General Meeting we will not be serving snacks or drinks and will have hand sanitizer available.

As per the Kitsap Public Health Department, people who are at higher risk for serious illness, including people with underlying health conditions, older adults and pregnant women, should consider avoiding large gatherings to reduce their risk of getting sick.

If you are sick, please rest and stay home and we'll see you next month.  We also understand if you choose not to attend.

Hello 4-H Members,

We hope you will join us for the March General Meeting which is this Monday, March 9, 2020 at 6:30 pm.

This is our member recognition evening where yearly pins will be distributed!  We also have a fun game planned!

See you then!

4-H Judges are needed for public presentations

Below you will find the link to sign up for judging 4-H public presentations.
There is a educational video that you can watch that will teach you how to judge...you be also paired with an experienced judge.
Listening to public presentations is one of the best ways to volunteer in   4-H.  If you have any questions, please let us know!

Thank you for supporting our youth!

Teen Clerk positions available for Public Presentations

If you have given a public presentation before and are interested in helping a judge, you are welcome to sign up to be a 4-H Clerk.

Clerks are responsible for escorting 4-H members to the presentation room where they will be judged on their presentation.  Remember how nervous you were the first time you gave a public presentation?  You have the ability to help make a new or younger member's public presentation experience a good one by being friendly and welcoming!  You will also be responsible for keeping track of presentation time and help record vital information for the judges.

If you're interested in this great position, please sign up here:

4-H Public Presentations

4-H encourages its members to expand their life skills which includes the ability to do public presentations.  As a result, once a year, they offer a 4-H Public Presentation forum where members get the opportunity to do public presentations on topics they are interested in.

We encourage all members of Bainbridge Island 4-H to deliver public presentations!  The dates for the Kitsap County 4-H Public Presentations are Friday afternoon, March 6, 2020 or Saturday morning, March 7, 2020.

Through Kitsap County's 4-H public presentation forum, our members can earn blue ribbons, earning the chance to give their presentation at Kitsap County Fair or Washington State Fair.
